They wish he had never left!

After yet another defeat to Liverpool, Chelsea are almost at breaking point. Manager Andre Villas-Boas is still confident he is the right man to take Chelsea forward and reach their goals this season. But on can only wonder what these goals are. Liverpool defeated Chelsea rather easily on Tuesday night and therefore finished the Carling Cup for the West London Club. The League doesn’t look very promising either, after 13 games and already 4 losses the gap to league leaders Manchester City is already at 10 points and the club is well advised to look over their shoulder behind them as Arsenal and Liverpool are slowly closing in and threatening Chelsea’s participation at next year’s Champions League. Of course, this year’s Champions League doesn’t look much better. The away loss to Bayer Leverkusen leaves Chelsea 2nd in the table only on goal difference to Valencia in 3rd. With only one game left during the group stage it could very well be the end of this year for Chelsea in the world best club football competition. It is fair to say that Chelsea never really reached the heights they achieved with the special one in charge. Between 2004 and 2007 they won 2 Premier Leagues, 2 League Cups, FA Cup and reached the Champions League final! These days the mere participation at the Champions League can be called a success. The fans have shouted loudly for Jose Mourinho’s head in 2007 and their wish came true. Roman Abramovich had enough of the teams “negative” attitude and their defensive formation. But as it turns out, that seems to have been the biggest mistake in his time in charge of Chelsea Football club as the slow fall from grace has started that very day. In 2011 it was attempted to go down the same route as in 2004. The young and successful Portuguese coach from FC Porto was bought out of his contract and paid unreal amounts of money to come to London. But so far, the experiment has not quite caught on and I hope the fans, Abramovich and everyone else at Chelsea FC have enough time and patience to let AVB do his job in peace and even go a year without Champions League. One can only hope for the patience as this has not been Chelseas biggest strength over the last 4 years. To watch Chelsea playing check out various sports livestream web sites.
